Trilled by Friday evening I was, got unmarried to DUTs
Was all excited to start the journey, expecting to come back with cuts,
Flying with time were we and in kollur in no time,
Reached the trek start in a bumpy bus ride
It was all straight and no fun, until it was santosh café
All tripping on buttermilk, to go up where we belong
It was now run to the hill, cause we were so far away,
Full of enthu were we, but knees cracking ‘n giving way
It wasn’t long before we reached the base,
Though our guide thought we were a lil slow on pace
The walk was so long, we were feared dead with boots on!
Still to reach the peak, I said to myself, ain’t this high enough??
But the Vertical horizon, Inspired me to be tough and get along.
Running free this time with no bags on, fearing of no vertigo,
We were the Men on the edge, in no time!
But we were right next door to hell, listening to gross.
Fear of the dark, pushed us back from the dripping water,
We also had to pitch the tent; somebody at least had to bother.
It was worth a day for all the trek ‘n dire,
Time to put ourselves to sleep, in the warmth of the camp fire
Woke with the morning sun, thinking all hard times done,
But we had other things yet to come; carry the tent with all backs already bent.
Our lead, accepting the dare, only to end up with a twisted ankle.
Tent started rolling on every other’s back,.. hmmm.. doesn’t it sound like team spirit??
Back to santosh were we in no time… hey wait, the weekend warriors aren’t done!
Trek to the arshinagundi falls, veteran as always two steps behind
It was a long train running; we all had the walk of life
Something in the way, hey a SNAKE, gave us a gentle reminder that we were not in our territory but amidst nature.
The guide yelled “be quick or be dead”,
We all had paid for nothing and so we had to pump it up!
Were at falls now and our stud had a Stream rock fever
Took the cliff in no time, which I would dare to do never.
Back to Kollur were we, having plenty to mull over.
Visited the Goddess, time to call it quits,
But what do we see, no bus and had to take a 2x4.
Back here we are, wanting to go once more!
Trek to kodchadri 6th jan 06. Dedicated to all the members of the trek.
